Biography:

Marie Harris graduated from St. Joseph ’s University with a B.S. in Liberal Arts, and from Acadia University with a M.Ed. in Education. She taught art, music, literature and reading to her students. Her personal art instruction began in 1970 with coursework at Bucks County Community College and workshops at the Abington and Cheltenham art centers where she studied with Howard Watson and other instructors.

In the 90’s, she lived abroad for three years in Berlin and Munich , Germany where she traveled extensively and took watercolor courses at the Volkshochschule in Munich . It was wonderful to live in Europe ; to get to know its people and language; to experience the culture of Germany first hand, and to see its art influences in the German Expressionistic art exhibited in the many museums in Berlin and Munich . In fall, 2003, she painted in Tuscany with an art group.

She has recently studied art at the following institutions:

· Fleisher Art Memorial Center

· Norristown Art League

She presently works in oils, oil and soft pastels, acrylics and watercolor and paints flowers, landscapes, city and travel scenes, still lifes, portraits and abstracts. She is a board member of The Art League of Delaware County , and the Philadelphia Watercolor Society and an associate member of the American Watercolor Society. She is a member of The Artists Circle, and paints with the abstract and watercolor groups at the Wallingford Art Center .
